Open the dashboard and go to Privacy. The switches work on the same apps AdFender filters, and on secure sites only while HTTPS filtering is on. Each one takes effect straight away and can be turned off the same way.
Send a “Do Not Sell or Share” signal
Adds a standard privacy signal to your browsing that asks websites not to sell or share your personal information. Where privacy laws recognize the signal, businesses are required to honor it; elsewhere it is a request. It sends a signal and does not block or hide anything, so there is little reason to leave it off.
Strip tracking parameters from web addresses
Many links carry tracking codes tacked onto the end of the address, so the site at the other end can tell where you came from and which email or post you clicked. This switch removes the known ones before the page loads. The rules behind it live in the AdFender Supplemental list, and the two stay in step — choosing filter lists explains how.
Trim cross-site referrers
When you follow a link from one site to another, your browser normally tells the second site which page you were on. With this on, it learns only which website you came from, not the page.
Minimize identifying request headers
Browsers can send sites extra details about your device — screen size, operating system, hardware — that make it easier to recognize you from visit to visit. This switch holds those back.
Some sites use those details to decide whether a visitor is a real person, and may show you a “prove you are not a robot” check more often while it is on. If that gets in your way, turn this switch off.
Block WebRTC
WebRTC is the part of a browser that makes live calls and meetings work in a web page. It can also reveal more about your network connection than an ordinary page visit does. This switch limits what WebRTC can reveal in the pages AdFender is able to change.
Video calls and meetings that run in a browser tab need WebRTC, and may not connect while this switch is on. If a call in your browser will not start, this is the first switch to check.
If a site misbehaves
Turn the most recent switch you changed off again, and reload the page. If that does not help, check the other Privacy switches you have turned on, then fix a broken website covers the rest.
